Newborns

My signature newborn sessions capture your baby's first days of life in a creative and unique way. There is nothing more beautiful than newborn photography, and we all know the importance of preserving your family's most precious moments. I am proud to provide an unforgettable experience and create stunning portraits that celebrate you and the beautiful life you created.

Choosing Your Photographer

You should always choose a photographer that has a style you like. When choosing a newborn photographer, you also want to choose someone you feel comfortable holding and taking care of your baby. Newborns are delicate and fragile, I do everything possible to ensure the safety of your baby during the session. As a newborn photographer, I will feed, change, dress and comfort your little one during the session. Although I do not have any children of my own, I ensure you, I am very familiar with caring for and handling newborns. I have completed professional courses and have the experience that allows me to know how to pose and photograph your baby safely. In addition, I am also a fully vaccinated photographer and I am certified in infant CPR. Know that I am always open to answering any questions or addressing any concerns you may have.

What to Expect

Newborn sessions can be held at my in-home studio located in Johnstown, PA or at your home. I also provide the option for outdoor photos if requested around my house (mostly wooded, grassy setting). Sessions usually last anywhere from 1.5 to 3 hours, some of this time is spent feeding and comforting your baby so they look relaxed in the photos. Babies are unpredictable and often behave differently in unfamiliar environments. What I mean by this is your typical sleepy newborn might be wide awake at your session or vise versa. Based on the package you pick the minimum amount of photos you will be provided is 15-30. I have never had to reschedule a session due to not being able to setting baby but if I feel at the time it would be best to reschedule, we will do so. These sessions are all about your new little baby. As soon as you arrive at your session I give you a quick tour, then we begin and I take over from there. I have learned that it is best to not force pose, there are certain poses only certain babies will allow me to do. If they do not settle into a position soon after placing them I will move on to the next. During the session you have access to my collection of props that include outfits, bonnets, hats, wraps, headbands, florals, baskets, buckets, bowls and countless other items. I ask that you pick out a theme/color pallet that I can have ready when you arrive at the session. You are able add to this should you see something you like that day. Every photo you are provided is professionally edited and photoshopped. I do take care if all baby acne, reddened/blotchy/flaky skin and retouch skin tones (unless requested otherwise).

What You Need to Know

Newborns are best photographed within the first 2-3 weeks from birth, they are more sleepy and easily adjusted during this time. It is best to schedule a date as soon as possible but on average I book expecting mothers during their early 2nd trimester. I keep a certain amount of time open for newborn sessions each month due to the unpredictability of gestation. Please bring enough breast milk/formula for 4 hours along with extra diapers and a pacifier even if you do not use one although I will respect your wishes if not. I know newborns are unpredictable but please try to schedule so your baby needs fed as soon as you arrive or right before you arrive at your session if you live close to the studio. If you are bringing siblings please bring another person such as dad, grandma or aunt so injuries are avoided. Mom or dad will be involved with some parts of the newborn session and there are things such as wires and heavy props that can cause accidents to happen. If you wish, I have a big yard for use and there are near by walking trails to keep your kiddos entertained or some parents arrange for them to be picked up by a family member. Please DO NOT bring toys, coloring books ext. to the session, unless you want them in the pictures. If you do bring such, please keep them hidden until the child is photographed (usually photograph toddlers first). These objects cause a distraction and can hinder the number of pictures you are provided. All my props are washed/cleaned after every session, if your newborn has sensitive skin please let me know so I can use the appropriate detergent/wipes before and during the session. If you are bringing anything along such as your own outfit/prop please just let me know. With that being said, keep it simple. Solid colors are best, simple prints and patterns such as plaids and thick stripes are acceptable. Knit outfits typically do not photograph well unless they fit perfectly. Based on your package selection your session includes a minimum of 15-30 images along with a few chosen black and white duplicates. I do not provide unedited photos, I feel they are a misinterpretation of my work and do not portray the final product accurately. Your gallery will be emailed to you in the form of a password protected digital gallery. In the gallery you can download the images and order products (prints, canvases, cards) although there is no obligation to do so.

COVID-19 Update:

Pennsylvania is back to 100%, masks are encouraged but not required.

Please address any concern with me before your session!

As always, you and your baby's safety is my number one priority during the session!

Things I already did:

-Sanitize hands upon entering.

-Studio cleaned after each client.

-Fabrics cleaned and sanitized between clients.

Things I implemented:

-One baby per day in the studio.

-No shoes in the studio.

-I wear a mask. If I can do this simple task and prevent the spread of not just COVID but also a common cold, that's a win in my book!
